Erasmus in Schools

About the Project

The main aim of the Erasmus in Schools (EiS) project is to promote the available mobility, volunteering and internship programmes as opportunities accessible to the entire student community, and to familiarise students from primary and secondary schools with the international student community and mobility opportunities. This fosters a cultural exchange based on values such as respect, co-existence and tolerance.

ESN Portugal prioritizes engagement among its ESN sections to ensure local implementation. Considering this initiative is part of our federation’s broader mission to promote intercultural understanding and support international mobility, it requires increased visibility and national-level support for local volunteer implementation.

With this in mind, ESN Portugal is reopening a Micro Grant for Portuguese ESN sections who want to carry out this activity during the Fall Semester of 2025.

You can access the Micro Grant Open Call HERE.

Key Objectives

Inspiring Mobility

How Can I Support This Project?

Local Sections

As an ESN section, your role is to prepare all information and act as the link between international students and local schools. By collecting information and acting as a bridge, you allow international students to share experiences and help pupils gain intercultural awareness for their future mobility.

Primary and Secondary Schools

Your role is to welcome international students and create space for cultural exchange. Pupils learn directly from international students, fostering tolerance and intercultural understanding. In secondary schools, you raise awareness about opportunities like Erasmus+, volunteering, and internships.

International Students

Your presence showcases the real impact of mobility opportunities, inspiring younger students to consider future experiences abroad. Sharing your testimonial is vital to the project’s success.

Project History

Project Report Spring Semester 2025

In the Spring Semester of 2024/2025, 81% of participants affirmed that the session made them more interested in meeting people from different countries, and 79% felt more motivated to consider studying or living abroad in the future. This data is essential to implement new strategies each year to improve the project for participants and international students.
