As of 12 am, 23rd of April, a total of 22797 people have tested positive for the COVID-19 disease in Portugal, meaning there was an increase of 444 new cases since yesterday. Currently, 1068 people are being treated at the hospital, and of those 188 are in the ICU (intensive care unit).

Since the 1st of January, a total of 227393 people have been tested, of which 200219 have tested negative and 4377 are still awaiting test results. There are still 29621 people who are being monitored by the authorities, on suspicion of being infected.

Until now, we register 854 deaths and 1228 patients have recovered from the infection. Of these, we have 491 deaths in the North region, 183 deaths in the Center region, 160 deaths in the Lisbon and Tejo Valley region, 1 death in the Alentejo region, 11 deaths in the Algarve region and 8 deaths in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
