Lisbon, ​​October 26, 2018 - The airline company, Ryanair, holds in Lisbon the success of the partnership with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN).


On this day, the Mercado das Culturas in Arroios will host several guests, such as the Member of the European Parliament Sofia Ribeiro, the Director of Public Affairs of Ryanair, Diarmuid O'Conghaile, the President of the Portuguese National Youth Council, Hugo Carvalho, and the Public Senior Officer of the National Agency Erasmus+ for Education and Training, Teresa Moncada, to talk about the importance of mobility as a lifestyle. The event will be held from 12:30h to 14:00h andit will also feature the participation of ESN volunteers and university representatives.

In late May 2017, the unprecedented agreement between Ryanair and ESN, the largest student association in Europe, with the aim of promoting mobility among young people was announced. The airline offers, since August 2017, 15% discount and a free 20Kg checked bag for 8 flights to international students who hold an ESNcard, the ESN membership card.


The partnership has been a great success. Until now, Ryanair has surpassed more than 150,000 reserves - this meant savings to international students of more than 6 million euros. The highest number of reservations were made by exchange students in Milan, Madrid and Porto. Germany, Portugal, Italy and Poland are the most popular destinations among ESNcard holders.

Erasmus Student Network (ESN)


Erasmus Student Network is the largest students association in Europe. It consists of more than 500 associations in over 40 countries, with 15.000 volunteers who move under the principle of ''Student Helping Students''. Currently, in Portugal, there are fourteen local associations.


The goal of ESN is to promote mobility facilitating cultural understanding, integration into the local community and own development of exchange students. Local associations from all the countries organized hundreds of travels activities of all kinds - cultural, social, sports, … - so that students can enjoy the most of their exchange experience.
